Maui Golf Courses
Dunes at Maui Lani
Robin Nelson created an Irish links-style course in concept. The 6,840-yard par 72 Dunes at Maui Lani Golf Course is designed much like the courses built centuries ago in the British Isles as its holes take full advantage of Maui’s natural, sloping island dune terrain. That’s why creativity, finesse, strategy and good shot-making are all part of the Dunes experience.
Elleair Maui Golf Club
This course was designed by Canadian Bill Newis and opened in December of 1986. It is a privately-owned, 18-hole par 71 layout that is open to the public. Elleair can be a challenge for all levels of play, and the course is manicured just like Maui’s best resorts – all for a more affordable price. The word Elleair is French and menas:”Spirit of the Wind”.
Kaanapali Kai Golf Course
The Ka’anapali Kai Course was recently redesigned by golf course architect, Robin Nelson who has worked on over 40 courses across the state. The course combines narrow fairways with subtle greens and places a premium on ball placement off the tee and approach to the smaller greens. With four sets of tees, this course allows for challenge and fun from all levels of play.
Royal Kaanapali Golf Course
The Royal Ka’anapali Course is one of only two Trent Jones designs in the state of Hawaii and opened in 1962. With over 45 years of tournament history, this championship course has hosted some of golf’s greatest legends like arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, Chi Chi Rodriguez, Jan Stephenson and Amy Alcott.
Kahili Golf Course
The Kahili Golf Course has become an integral part of Maui’s golf tradition, along with its private sister course, the stunning King Kamehameha Golf Club. Together they are set like diamonds in the foothills of the scenic West Maui mountains creating a unique & challenging golf memory.
The Bay Course at Kapalua Resort
There is no better place in the world to experience golf than at Kapalua. The Bay Course features a spectacular hole the par-3 fifth that is built with the tee on one side of a Pacific inlet and the green on the other.
The Plantation Course at Kapalua Resort
The Plantation Course, is the course of the PGA TOUR Mercedes Championships each January featuring an elite field of previous year’s PGA TOUR winners. Play the course where Ernie Ells shot -32 in 2003! A treat to play at least once in your life. Congratulations to the 2009 Champion, Geoff Ogilvy. Don’t miss next years championship January 4 – 10, 2010.
Makena Golf Course
Opened in 1993, the Makena Golf Course goes out of its way to make golfers feel at one with their natural surroundings. There are no distractions on this course-unless you considered the unobstructed views of the blue pacific, neighboring islands, and humpback whales breaching during whale season to be a bit distracting.
Pukalani Country Club
Pukalani’s fairways are wide and hilly, and its greens are fast and sloped. The course is located at 1,100 feet in elevation, resulting in cooler playing conditions. The biggest challenges come from the wind and elevation changes. The high elevation provides some great views of the Island of Maui.
Wailea Golf Club – Emerald Course
Rated one of the best new courses by Golf Magazine and Golf Digest, as well as one of North America’s most women-friendly by Golf for Women, the Wailea Emerald is akin to a lush tropical playground. Flowers bloom in great abundance: plumeria, bird of paradise, allamanda, gazenia, bougainvillea. A true delight for any golfer.
Wailea Golf Club – Gold Course
The home course of The Champions Skins Game for 7 years; the LPGA Skin, U.S.Open Qualifier, and numerous corporate and charity tournaments, the Wailea Gold Course is the most challenging of Wailea’s trio. Designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr., it has been ranked among the country’s best new courses by Golf Magazine and Golf Digest, and one of the world’s best designed by the readers of Conde Nast.
Wailea Golf Club – Old Blue Course
One of the first resort golf courses in Hawaii, the Wailea Old Blue is truly a classic. From an era when courses were build taking nature’s lay of the land, the Old Blue put Wailea on the map as one of Hawaii’s premiere golf destinations. Ocean views from every hole, wide manicured fairways and colorful foliage throughout provide the golf experience that has brought loyal fans of the Old Blue back year after year.
